8月25日、今日は【東京国際空港開校記念日】ですね。

日本の空の玄関として発展してきた国際空港。そこには飛行機に乗るだけじゃない様々な仕掛けがありました。
遊びに行く目的日もなる羽田空港。そんな羽田空港、気になりませんか？

私、過去に約10年ほど羽田空港で働いていました。（日本エアシステムが現役だった頃w）
JALとJASの統合、その場に立ち会えた事は今でも思い出です✈️

1931年（昭和6年）8月25日、東京・羽田に「東京飛行場」が開港しました。
これが現在の 東京国際空港（羽田空港） の始まりです。当時は日本で初めての民間航空機専用空港で、まだ飛行機が特別な乗り物だった時代に、多くの人の夢と期待を背負って誕生しました。

その後、1952年に「東京国際空港」と改称され、1956年には航空整備法により国内で最初の国際航空拠点に指定。現在では年間利用者数が1億人を超え、世界的にもトップクラスの規模を誇る空港となっています。

The Birth of Japan’s Gateway to the Skies: Haneda Airport

On August 25, 1931, Tokyo Airfield opened in Haneda, Tokyo.
This marked the beginning of what we now know as Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport). At the time, it was Japan’s first airport dedicated to civilian aircraft, and in an era when airplanes were still a luxury, it was born carrying the dreams and hopes of many.

Later, in 1952, it was renamed Tokyo International Airport. By 1956, under the Aviation Act, it was designated as Japan’s first international aviation hub. Today, with more than 100 million annual passengers, Haneda stands as one of the world’s largest airports.

「羽田」という地名の由来

羽田空港の「羽田」という名前は、周辺にあった旧町名「羽田町」に由来しています。
現在は空港自体が「東京都大田区羽田空港」という町名になっており、まさに“空港が街”というユニークな存在です。

ちなみに、羽田空港の滑走路は「海の上」に造られているものもあります。D滑走路は東京湾に突き出すように建設され、環境に配慮して桟橋構造が採用されました。まるで海に浮かぶ滑走路とも言われ、世界的にも珍しい空港の工法のひとつです。

The name “Haneda” comes from the former town name “Haneda-machi,” which once surrounded the area.
Today, the airport itself gives its name to the district “Haneda Airport, Ota-ku, Tokyo,” making it truly a “city that is an airport.”

Interestingly, some of Haneda’s runways are built over the sea. The D Runway, for example, extends into Tokyo Bay, constructed with an eco-friendly pier design. Often described as a “floating runway,” it represents one of the rare engineering methods for airports worldwide.

羽田空港の敷地内には、あまり知られていない神社があります。その名も 「羽田航空神社」。

この神社は、航空業界ではよく知られており、客室乗務員（CA）やパイロットが参拝に訪れることもあります。航空安全を祈願するのはもちろんですが、「落ちない」という言葉の縁起の良さから、受験生にも密かな人気があるんです。

また、羽田航空神社は東京・新橋にある「航空神社」の御分霊であり、航空ファンの間では“空港の隠れたパワースポット”として注目されています。

The Little-Known “Haneda Aviation Shrine”

Within Haneda Airport’s grounds lies a lesser-known shrine—the Haneda Aviation Shrine.

Famous within the aviation industry, it’s visited by flight attendants and pilots who pray for safety. Beyond aviation, its association with the phrase “not falling” makes it a lucky spot for students preparing for exams.

The shrine is a branch of the “Aviation Shrine” located in Shimbashi, Tokyo, and among aviation fans it’s regarded as a hidden power spot inside the airport.

Back then, I used to go here for New Year’s visits. ⛩️
It was always quiet and easy to pray in peace, haha.
